AKC agility is a timed obstacle course of jumps, tunnels, weave poles, the A-frame, dog walk and teeter that dog and handler run together as a team. It rewards speed, focus and trust, and it’s a wonderful outlet for a clever, energetic dachshund. The dogs on this page were trained and handled by Karen, and most were bred here at Harlequin. They include two Master Agility Champions (MACH), Cherry and Chelsea, along with dogs titled at the Excellent and Master levels.

We train with positive, motivational methods and keep our dogs fit and lean, which is especially important for a long-backed breed. Many of our agility dogs also compete in obedience, rally and conformation. Thinking about trying agility with your own dachshund? Read Dachshund Training for Success for Karen’s story of how patience and perseverance took Chelsea to her MACH.
